			Starting on the coast can be difficult, particularly for players unfamiliar with the map or returning after spending significant time inland. Establishing food, water, warmth, and basic equipment early will make traveling inland considerably easier.


			DayZUnderground also differs from many other DayZ servers. Loot is generally less abundant, and some common sources of food, such as fruit trees and bushes, are completely disabled. Due to these differences, knowing where to find resources and how to make use of basic survival mechanics is particularly important. This guide covers the basic steps for establishing a fresh character and preparing to travel inland.
			== Orient Yourself ==
			Before traveling, determine where you spawned. Characters spawn facing '''north'''. This can be used to identify which section of the coastline you are on:

			With experience, many locations can be identified immediately. Examples include the church in Berezino, the docks in Elektrozavodsk, and the clock tower in Novodmitrovsk. Familiarity with the map will also help identify nearby groups, camps, and Points of Interest (POIs) that may be useful destinations.

Overcome by guilt and sorrow following the death of [[Wisp]], he formally transferred guardianship of the [[House of Hope]] to Blood, a former Coalition member, and announced his intention to leave Chernarus.

			Greeny ultimately remained in Chernarus after receiving correspondence from Benjamin Smiths, an associate of the [[Forsaken Loyalists]]. Viewing the opportunity as a means of retaliating against the Loyalists for their treatment of Dill, Greeny conspired with members of Odyssey to lure Benjamin into a trap, where he was subsequently executed. In recognition of his assistance, Greeny was offered membership in Odyssey.

			Over the following months, Greeny became particularly close to [[Shifty]], who served as Odyssey's de facto leader at the time. During this period, Shifty confided in Greeny about his growing dissatisfaction with life in Chernarus. Following the death of Forsaken Loyalist President Joe Fraser, Shifty revealed that much of his motivation had been rooted in his desire for revenge against Fraser. With Fraser dead, Shifty felt that the principal source of his anger had disappeared.

			Shifty subsequently instructed Greeny that, should he disappear, he was not to be sought out. Several days later, Shifty took his own life at the hands of Bobs of the Black Sheep.

			The death of Shifty marked a significant deterioration in Greeny's mental state. Although he maintained a composed exterior around the other members of Odyssey, internally he experienced a severe psychological decline. His increasingly frequent depressive and dissociative episodes culminated in the maiming and torture of [[Mira Svahn]] in the forest opposite the House of Hope.

			The incident ultimately led to a final confrontation between Greeny, his longtime friend Big Dave of the Merry Men, and Mira. During the confrontation, Greeny was killed by Mira, bringing an end to his life in Chernarus.
