The DayzUnderground mod is the accumulation of over 8 years of work throughout the years since Bohemia Interactive added modding support to the game.

This is a list of the changes that DUG has made to the game through the DUG mod, note that this list is a work in-progress and is not definitive. We do not disclose exact numbers.

Custom Items

Retextures

  • Improvised fur bags for all animal pelt kinds
  • Darker variant of the great helm
  • Lore-friendly Chernarus and Livonia police and forest ranger car variants
  • Many new flags
  • Soviet Ballistic variants of Press Vests
  • Create armbands from flags
  • Create bandanas from flags
  • Can remove the "Press" tag from a Press Vest using a knife.

Reintroduced Cut Vanilla Features

  • Return of BI's dyeing of clothing via a barrel cut feature
  • Create fertiliser with guts and plant material

  • Police Tazer (aka ShockGun)
  • Archery (Improvised Bow, Recurve Bow)

Custom Survivors

Hardcore

  • Plant infestation is more common.
  • Haemolytic shock damage is increased.
  • No sickness indicator in the HUD when affected by Kuru.
  • Grenades spawn with randomised fuse timers.
  • Cutting seeds from a plant will yield a random amount of seeds
  • Reduced meat yields of most vanilla animals
  • Bandages can be combined, but they lose disinfected status when combined.
  • Can't unrestrain a player in handcuffs without keys (they must struggle out)
  • Plate Carriers can only be repaired using 100% of an epoxy.
  • Press Vests (and Soviet Vests) can only be repaired using 50% of an epoxy.

Quality of Life

  • Autorun functionality
  • Earplugs functionality
  • Ability to catch rain into a cooking pot by looking at the sky
  • Flares (from a flaregun) remain in the air for longer
  • Vanilla fishing rod can be attached to either of the player's shoulder slot
  • Combination locks are moved to your hands (if possible) after unlocking a gate.
  • Fishing rod can be attached to either of the player's back slots

Rebalance

  • Field Transceiver weight is significantly reduced
  • Handheld Radio weigh less and use less energy
  • Shoes don't damage as quickly
  • Removed voice muffle from full-face helmets (but not gas masks)
  • Spears and Firewood can not damage base building
  • Cannot use a Hoe for erecting or removing fence posts
  • Resized improvised shelters to scale with material
    • Stick Shelter: 10x6
    • Leather Shelter: 10x8
    • Tarp Shelter: 10x10
  • Resized the cargo capacity of the truck from 10x60 to 8x40
  • Rebalanced firearm suppressors
    • significantly decreased durability of the improvised suppressor
    • increased durability of manufactured suppressors
    • removed the ability to repair manufactured suppressors
  • Cannot enter the driver's seat of a vehicle while holding an item.

Restraints

  • Can now jog (but not sprint) while restrained
  • Restraint durability affects the overall struggle time
  • Struggle time for most restraints is slightly increased compared to vanilla.
  • Overall struggle progress is preserved between attempts.

Cannibalism

  • Laugh from kuru is less frequent than vanilla.
  • Shake from kuru is less frequent than vanilla.

Resized Vanilla Items

  • Shrunk binoculars from 3x3 to 2x2
