Overview

Year Founded: 2015

Status: Active

The wretched few, the crooked conspirators, the bloody and battered sons of the Apocalypse - sent to rise among the ashes of the former world and fulfill the prophecy exactly as it was written. 12 human sacrifices to be made in honor of the one true God of the wasteland, Papa. The Cult of Papa exists to tell the tale of madmen serving the apocalyptic teachings of a self-proclaimed priest, Bog Petrov. The Cult of Papa is heavily focused on narrative with most of their actions in-game serving the purpose of telling a story while including as much communal involvement as possible.

One of the longest existing groups on DUG, the Cult of Papa are a self described hardcore roleplay group in that they impose a unique ruleset on themselves that the rest of DayZ Underground's community members are not expected to follow. They have a strict policy regarding the building of their group’s lore. Because of the nature of the faction, their leadership imposes a very strict and purposeful set of rules governing the way they play their characters:

  • Any member representing a “living” Cult of Papa character may not interact OOC on any platform for any reason.
  • Cult members keep their OOC identities a secret at all times.
  • The Cult imposes a strict perma-death rule on its members. Death from a role-play situation in which the characters are engaged in meaningful interaction mandates a permanent death for a Cult of Papa member. KOS, game bugs, disease, or inexplicable deaths are not recognized as perma-death worthy.

These rules revolve around the Cult of Papa’s values of interaction and story-telling, with real consequences. Their focus is to add a realistic element of horror to DayZ Underground by touching on relevant themes. They strive to tell tales of torture, hatred, love, death, and destruction that include as much of the wide array of personalities available in the DayZ Underground community as possible. They encourage all members of the community to get involved and to help shape the story, to make it big and exciting. They want to have fun with you. If a member of the Cult approaches you in-game, it is an invitation to tell a story.

Now we pray:

Great and Terrible Papa, hear my prayer.

Bless our pain and the monstrosity we carry.

We are your Princes of darkness.

We rule on NOTHING.

HAIL PAPA - THE LORD OF SUFFERING.‎

The Mogilevka Church Massacre

Inside the Mogi Church during the Massacre

The Cult of Papa’s return to prominence in the lands in 2025 would culminate in one of their most brilliant and evil schemes to date. At some point Father Abraham was approached by Vici and other members of the Cult. The Cult would corrupt him and use him as a puppet in order to gain the trust of the people of Chernarus. They would ask him to hold a series of church sermons in return for power and legitimacy. Abe would be seduced by the Cult’s persuasion and would set their plans in motion. There would be multiple sermons led by Father Abraham that all went off without any incidents, each time attracting more people. Before the third sermon was to take place, the Cult would direct Abraham to invite specific groups. HOST, Coalition, and Overlook. At the end of Abe’s sermon, the trap would be sprung. The Cult would reveal themselves, and utilize Blackthorn Gang’s lended muscle to control the crowd. They would line up members of HOST, Coalition, and the Overlook, and execute them in front of the audience. Outside forces, and members of the crowd would eventually take advantage of the Cult’s and Blackthorn’s low numbers and would rise up and kill the members of the cult, and incapacitate the members of BTG, but the damage would be done and the Cult of Papa would gain five more sacrifices.
