Overview

Lieutenant Paddy (left) salutes Private Darian inside of St. Paddy’s Mission.

Group/faction Affiliations: The 506

Status: Deceased

Paddy was among the last remaining members of the clergy to be found in Chernarus. He joined the 506th soon after arriving in Chernarus, rising to the officer core after approximately 2 years of service. Paddy would found a church mission in Zelenogorsk named after his namesake, St. Patrick. He would serve for several more months until leaving the 506th behind on good terms to find and destroy the Cult of Papa. His pursuit of the Cult would ultimately lead to his end when he was poisoned with cursed blood and attempted to murder Major Austin.

Appearance

Lieutenant Paddy screams into Arvin Geist’s face.

Paddy donned a white suit top and bottom alongside white sneakers, gloves, and a white naval cap which he deemed his stand-in Archbishop’s miter. Paddy also maintained a white beard. His stand-out dress was intentional; the pure white of his appearance representing that he had nothing to hide, and that his intentions were clear and honest.

Paddy would not always be so honest, however; sporting a white beard due to the stressful nature of the world he found himself in. He imitated a far older man in order to keep a lower profile, and to let his enemies underestimate him.

Origins

Paddy was born in a village near Donegal, Ireland where he spent most of his pre-apocalypse days until he became an electrician and worked out of Dublin. Paddy would end up in Chernarus after taking an affordable cruise trip to the Black Sea, with his cruise liner shot and sunk by NATO forces trying to contain the infection to Chernarus.

Demeanor

It was no secret that Paddy was a drunkard, often showing up to his weekly sermons hung over or babbling incoherently to passers-by. Despite this, Paddy was kind and loving to those he was close with, and at times even to his enemies. Paddy had a sense of humor about him and one of his favorite tools for mischief would become the megaphone, which never left his side.

Actions

Shortly after washing ashore, Paddy made his way West and ended up in Zelenogorsk, where he inquired with one Georgie Luz about recruitment and soon after joined ranks with the 506th.

After feeling a pit in his life and growing tired of just selling his signature marajuana strain, “Shamrock Shake”, Paddy had a dream which instructed him to become God’s representative on Earth in the form of a priest. Paddy would shortly after refurbish Zelenogorsk’s church and name it St. Paddy’s Mission, and appoint himself as Archbishop after visiting the Vatican.

Through his time sacrifice, morale boosting activities and leadership capabilities, Paddy would eventually become promoted to an officer of the 506th, later joining the Inner Circle under Major Austin.

Paddy would serve the 506th with distinction, taking lead on several raids, patrols, and attacks on the 506th’s enemies. Paddy hosted several dozens of sermons during his tenure as Archbishop of Chernarus, and afterwards hosted his traditional Irish “Whack-a-Fish” fights, wherein two or more participants would be armed with raw fish, and would be pitted against one another until someone was knocked out, or tapped out.

Paddy would leave the 506th behind on good terms as he had begun to hear that the Cult of Papa had returned to Chernarus. He abandoned the Mission, and set out all across Chernarus to find leads on the Cult. About two months after his investigation had begun, the Cult lured him to Zelenogorsk with an explosion, and took him into the west woods. They broke his psyche and body, then left him for dead, not before giving him blood that had been presumably cursed by the Cult.

Paddy became enthralled and fixated on showing the Cult he was capable of doing great things, he turned on Major Austin. In his attempt to assassinate him, Paddy was gunned down and killed.

Where are they now?

After being forcefully given blood by the Cult, Paddy became delirious and highly aggressive. Seeking to prove himself in the eyes of the cultists and Papa after their failed attempt at killing Austin a few years back, Paddy sought to kill Major Austin in his own home; counting on him to be caught unaware by his old friend.

However, in a moment of clarity, Paddy hesitated to pull the trigger of his mosin - giving Austin enough time to draw his rifle and spray Paddy down in self defense. Paddy lies dead now in Pustoshka’s cemetery alongside all the other deceased 506th members.

After Paddy's death the 506 was left with a good clue on who was responsible, based on Paddy’s incoherent rambling. Austin went straight to the witching circle, only to find a fire going by the time he had reached it, he searched around and found a note. The group members grieved Paddy, and held a funeral, and most swore vengeance on the Cult themselves, but since then, it has mostly been a cold case. Other than a recent incident at Sanctuary where an estranged Pablo Pavlov the 6th of Pavlovo made weird noises, attacked someone, and had them deliver a white naval cap to the inhabitants of the camp.

Relationships

Iris - While likely unknown to her, Paddy for many years had a seething hatred for Iris. She was the very first person Paddy met when he woke up on the coast, near Berezino. On top of scaring the newcomer, Iris provided Paddy with human meat, which was forcefully fed to him by an unknown member of Dark as Midnight. Becoming a staunch anti-cannibal in later time, Paddy never forgave Iris, and was very happy to hear when she had gone.

George Luz - George was the leader of the 506th when Paddy was recruited, and amongst one of Paddy’s first friends. Before his ascension to priesthood, Paddy saw George as a role model; tough, brash, and a talented gunfighter. In later years Paddy resented George for abandoning the 506th, but eventually forgave him internally as he too left to pursue his own goals.

Collin - The de facto leader of the 506th, Paddy grew to admire Collin’s ability to step up to the plate as the new leader. Collin’s firm yet laid-back style of leadership appealed to Paddy, and the two became close friends.

Austin - Austin was the subsequent leader of the 506, and after having known Austin for so long already, Paddy soon assisted Austin in the day-to-day running of things as a member of the inner circle. Paddy would often try to be Austin’s voice of reason. Despite all of Paddy’s positive feelings and friendship towards Austin, Paddy attempted to murder him after being poisoned by the Cult of Papa.

Justice - Justice was a member of Austin’s inner circle alongside Paddy. Paddy had seen Justice up from recruit to his current position, and grew to appreciate his leadership and snappy sense of humor.

Shifty - Shifty was Paddy’s greatest friend outside of the 506th. Always kind and respectful towards Paddy, Shifty became one of his favorite traveling companions, and his first choice of people to sit by the campfire with at the end of the day.
