Phoenix Order

As DayzUnderground’s first "good" faction, the Phoenix Order sought to build a new, better, world out of the ashes of the old one. Working with other friendly groups of survivors, the Phoenix Order helped create the first mega “alliance” after Day Zero in order to fight off bandit groups and evil factions such as the Cult of Papa.
Alignment
The alignment most closely matching the structure, goals and intent of Phoenix Order can only be described as Neutral Good. A neutral good group believes in laws governing people but also recognizes personal freedoms - they strive to do good to others but also recognize the need for justice when evil is done.
Appearance
The Phoenix Order’s uniform was well known around Chernarus - the main two items being their cowboy hats and chest holsters. Seeing survivors with both these items usually meant they were members of this faction.
Origins
The Phoenix Order was created in response to the banditry and evil found in Chernarus since Day Zero. The members of the group believed society needed to “rise from the ashes” and create a new world from the chaos. Its first leaders/members were Myzzreal, Replicant, and Surfarcher who created a structure of Pioneers and Rangers within the faction. The Pioneer members were ones who were generally non-combative and did constructive, helpful activities to promote the group and its ideals. Rangers were part law enforcement and part soldier, protecting civilians in areas under Phoenix Order protection while also partaking in “bandit hunting” in other parts of the map.
Territory
The Phoenix Order did not “own” any land or territory, but it did protect a certain area of Chernarus they called “Protected Zones.” Their main protected zone was in the Stary Sobor/Novy Sobor/Kabanino area. When needed, Rangers and Pioneers would travel throughout Chernarus to help others.
Goals
The Phoenix Order had two main goals: to build a new, better, world out of the ashes of the one that fell, and to bring about the return of civilization. In the long term, this would mean the creation of a government of some sort with citizens participating in the government.
Values
The Phoenix Order believed the “greater good” was more important than individual liberty, and that both the survival of the human race and the nurturing of a new civilization was of paramount importance.
Phoenix Order members valued respect, and believed all members within the faction were equal (as well as peaceful non-members). But they also recognized that respect is a two way street, and that they would not extend it to bandits, fascists, murderers, zeds, or others who work against the greater good.

History
The Phoenix Order came about when there were no other survivor groups stepping up to defend others against bandits and murderers who ruled Chernarus for some time. With their creation, they instantly made enemies of others in the area. Their most famous enemy, perhaps, being that of Chernaya Strazha. Launching attacks on Chernogorsk and Chernaya Strazha coming north in retaliation, there was non-stop fighting in the fields of South Zagoria when it came to these two groups. At one point, Chernaya Strazha even made it a point that they went after anyone wearing a cowboy hat due to the Rangers within the Phoenix Order making several successful attacks on them.
These attacks continued - and not just from Chernaya Strazha. Bandit groups wanting to access places like the Northwest Airfield would continually move through the Protection Zone created by the Phoenix Order around Stary Sobor which led to further conflict. A nearby group in Devil’s Castle named The Clean joined forces with the Phoenix Order as a subgroup, and they had some success in defending their area around the castle.
After a few months of protecting Stary Sobor and its surroundings, the Order met with two other factions called the Chernarus Defense League (CDL) and the Fraternal Order of Chernarussian Police to create an alliance. During this summit, the three groups created a charter and agreed to many provisions in the hopes of making a safer area. These agreements included enabling certain rights to all peoples in the north, a makeshift judicial system, and assurances that taxes and tributes would not be expected from anyone in the area.
This alliance was strong at first - which was to the benefit of all, as later that year the zealous Cult of Papa began their reign of terror and sacrifice in Chernarus. The Cult of Papa and Phoenix Order butted heads and fought each other as well - and with the fate of Chernarus in the balance, even groups like Chernaya Strazha fought alongside the Order hoping to stop the Cult from continuing to sacrifice and kill people. This culminated in the Black Mass Event, where the Cult was all but eliminated and Chernarus could breathe easier..at least for a while.
Following the Black Mass, the Phoenix Order began to fade. Whether it was due to feeling safer, or wanting to find a place to settle down elsewhere, or whatever the reason was unclear. It may have been due to the alliance between the CDL and the Fraternal Order of Chernarussian Police (FOCP) crumbling as philosophies and ideals differed. Months after the Black Mass, the Phoenix Order became bare bones with only a handful of members accounted for in their ranks. Eventually, they were no more, and lived on only in memories and stories from survivors who continued on.
Notable Members
Surfarcher - Founder of the Phoenix Order. Although there were no formal leaders, Surfarcher did act as the leader in cases of emergency decision making. During his time, the Phoenix Order created an alliance with the Chernarus Defense League and the Fraternal Order of Chernarussian Police to fight off bandits and especially the insidious extremists known as the Cult of Papa.
Harry the Fisherman - a friendly member of the faction who was known to fish almost every pond in Chernarus.
Relationships
Chernarus Defense League - As a formal ally under the terms of the Peace Summit Of The United North, this faction was probably the closest Phoenix Order had to friends in Chernarus.
Fraternal Order of Chernarussian Police - the FOCP attempted to hold the “United North” together after the summit but despite its fracture, remained on good terms with the Phoenix Order
The Phoenix Order were great friends with many factionless survivors who they also tried to protect.
Pavlovo Trade Union - Formerly known as the Polana Trade Union in the time of the Phoenix Order, The PTU’s friendly nature and desire to improve relationships through trade made them friends with the Phoenix Order.
Chernaya Strazha - The Black Guard’s desire to rid the whole country of non-Chernarussians did them no favors with other survivors, none less so than the Phoenix Order.
The Cult Of Papa - The cult’s desire to rid the whole country of everyone ALSO did them no favors with other survivors, especially the Phoenix Order.
Other enemies of the Phoenix Order included bandits, psychopaths, and other evil survivors.
