Year Founded: 2022

Status: Active

Beginning as a guild for hire, and eventually finding more to life than working for others, The Golden Peppers were content being an amicable and quirky bunch with a shared kinship that largely sought out the good in others. As time, and numerous conflicts, wore on they eventually took refuge in the Pavlovo Military Gas Zone; recoiling from the world and its incessant woes. This, some say, changed them, guiding them towards more isolationist ideals and caustic behavior; even becoming obsessed with the gas. While they may disagree with the rumors surrounding the gas, they will use any means necessary to protect its sanctity and ensure their uninterrupted access to the solace it provides them.

Alignment

The Golden Peppers are closest to Chaotic Neutral in alignment archetype. Often electing to not be directly involved in what they consider the affairs of outsiders, their motivations are, at times, obscured. Caring foremost about their continued access to their home, they seek out what they consider necessary relations of utility. They possess an inherent curiousity of the goings-on beyond Pavlovo, the reasons for which are as nebulous as their home.

Appearance

Past Flag and Armband for the Golden Peppers.

The Golden Peppers can be identified by wearing a dark gray armband with the yellow Golden Peppers logo. Previously they wore a golden snake armband. The members tend to wear unique outfits, usually dressing in darker colors, with gas masks on their hip. Pay no mind to their coughing, everything is fine.

Origins

The Golden Peppers were founded by Cob and Gabe who met by chance and found a shared optimism despite the apocalyptic conditions. Traversing Chernarus, it became evident that those they came across needed materials, food, all things required to survive. The pair recognized the despair around them and, while helping others obtain what they needed, soon found not only trading but also the availability of certain jobs to be quite lucrative. Establishing themselves in Orlovets, eventually expanding to include Dolina, they quickly began to find like-minded members and the Golden Peppers were born. Though this seemingly well-intended inception would not last forever...

Territory

Pavlovo

The Golden Peppers claimed the town of Pavlovo initially due to its central location within the southwestern area of Chernarus and proximity to former longtime allies The Renegades. This enabled visitors to relatively easily access the faction, no matter which area of Chernarus they are coming from.

Farm located NW of Pavlovo

The Golden Peppers resided at the farm located just northwest of the town of Pavlovo for quite some time. This is where they previously conducted business and would host visiting groups at their compound.

Pavlovo Military Gas Zone

Current and long-standing home to the Golden Peppers; feeling they were driven here by conflict, they embrace what they consider its solace, seeing not the side effects outsiders claim.

Goals

The Golden Peppers did not choose to turn away from the world, they feel it was forced upon them and all will have to reap the repercussions. The gas provides them with a brief solace and they strive to maintain trade networks to facilitate access to it and reward those of whom aide them in its pursuit. They will punish those who disrupt its tranquility.

Values

Autonomy, Vigilance, Reclusion -The will of Outsiders shall not be imposed.

History

I. Eastern Origins

The Golden Peppers were founded by Cob and Gabe after a chance meeting and a discovery of a vision shared. Traversing the region, they decided to plant some roots in Eastern Chernarus, specifically in Orlovets and eventually encompassing Dolina as well. Through their experience, they wished to set up a trading post and be mercenaries for hire. Their ideas of trading and jobs for hire were much different than they came to be. Through luck and some good cunning, they recruited a number of members to join their ranks. Eventually though, their way of life caught up to them with Gabe being put into a coma and many members being killed or going missing. Cob and Ross then decided they needed to redefine the vision of the Golden Peppers. After lengthy discussions with Waxxer of The Renegades, Cob decided it was for the best to change locations to the West and redefine the sort of trading and jobs the Golden Peppers would provide, leaning more toward their inherently good nature. There was also economic opportunity out West, so Cob knew this would be the best step for the group.

II. The Move West

During a time of great hibernation across Chernarus, The Golden Peppers officially moved out West, specifically to the town of Pavlovo. They began to set up their trading operation in the farm complex Northwest of the town of Pavlovo. The group believed this to be an ideal spot to conduct business, right in the heart of the West. The move was a monumental undertaking but the members knew this venture would be worth it in the end.

III. Western Settlement

After cementing a foothold in the West, the Golden Peppers were able to recruit new members, reconnect with those who’d gone missing, and Gabe recovered from his coma, swelling their ranks once more. The vision Cob had for the group took shape as people came from all over Chernarus to trade and negotiate with the Golden Peppers. Relations with long-standing allies were strengthed while fostering new relations with others. With more members than ever before believing in the same dream Cob had, the Golden Peppers began to become a staple of the West.

IV. The Gas

Cob- Leader and founder of the Golden Peppers. His vision has helped what the faction has become and envisions what the future will look like. Being communicative in nature, he has historically served as the face of the Golden Peppers, making decisions and discussing diplomacy with other groups.

Gabe- Former leader and founder of the Golden Peppers. A loveable one-eyed mute, Gabe communicates through sign language and helped shape what the Golden Peppers were. Normally working behind the scenes, he contributed with strategic planning and creative decisions for the group; helping craft the name, sew the logo, and outline the group concept.

Ross- Ross has helped Cob and Gabe grow the Golden Peppers to what they are today by being the second-in-command of sorts, helping the Peppers’ vision stay alive whilst making sure its members are taken care of. Ross also has a keen eye for engineering and design. Before officially joining the Peppers, Ross was the leader of The Row in Dolina, often accompanying the Peppers as a very close friend before finally joining them officially.

Rowan

Trev

Regi- Regi was the first member to officially join the Golden Peppers and was known for his free-spirited nature, often ranging far and wide making contact with others on his own. This semi-nomadic nature would see him range out on his own for long stretches of time, allowing him to sharpen his already exceptional hunting and trapping skills in tandem with his information gathering prowess. Once an asset, the Peppers would come to see him as an outsider eventually leading him to join Odyssey.

Rob- The third member to join, quickly became interested in the Peppers after being warmly received by them in Severograd while staying at the Black Cross. He is remembered as being an adept driver and optimist and for always attempting to drum up positive morale with his energetic enthusiasm.

Relationships

The Renegades- The Renegades, notably Waxxer and Charlie Hughes, have a long-standing history with The Golden Peppers, tracing all the way back to their roots in the East.

The Collective- Prior to moving West, good relations were established between The Golden Peppers and The Collective, only strengthening with the move.
