Lucas

Overview
Growth is hope, growth is hope.
Group/Faction Affiliation: The Overlook
Status: Deceased (April 30, 2026)
A former heavy equipment technician and Salvation Army convoy mechanic, Lucas Cornfell became a notable community leader in modern Chernarus through his stewardship of the Overlook and the Staroye Neutral Zone. Known for his commitment to neutrality, diplomacy, and humanitarian work, Lucas devoted himself to creating a safe haven for many survivors regardless of their affiliations. Though often surrounded by violence, political pressure, and war, Lucas remained steadfast in his belief that people deserved second chances. His conflicts with the Forsaken Loyalists, complicated relationship with the Blackthorn Gang, and commitment to protecting his own Providers ultimately led to his downfall.
Lucas was executed on April 30, 2026, after being handed over by the Forsaken Loyalists to the Blackthorn Gang.
Appearance

Lucas typically dressed as a working man rather than a soldier. He favored practical clothing suited for farming, construction, and camp maintenance. Unlike many leaders who surrounded themselves with heavily armed escorts, Lucas preferred to be seen among the people he served, often carrying tools or supplies rather than weapons. As violence increasingly threatened the Staroye Neutral Zone, Lucas reluctantly adopted more protective equipment, though he never abandoned the image of a Provider first and a fighter second.
Origins
Before the outbreak, Lucas worked as a heavy equipment technician and served as a mechanic for Salvation Army convoy operations. Lucas arrived in Chernarus in 2019 and quickly became involved in community-building efforts. He helped manage a settlement at Black Lake, where he attempted to provide safety and stability to travelers. During this period, cannibals repeatedly targeted the camp and eventually tortured Lucas nearly to death.
Following his recovery, Lucas fell in love with a fellow survivor who helped him rebuild both physically and emotionally. However, escalating attacks from the cannibals culminated in the destruction of the settlement and the death of the woman he loved. Forced to flee, Lucas abandoned everything he had built. Eventually relocating north near Stary Yar, Lucas lived as a hermit for several years, avoiding nearly all human contact.
His isolation ended when a Provider named Dave discovered him in the wilderness. Dave introduced Lucas to the Overlook and encouraged him to visit Staroye. Upon arriving, Lucas found the camp nearly abandoned, with only a few Providers. Following Dave’s death, Nigel convinced Lucas to remain and help rebuild the organization. With the support of Nigel, Tristan, Tom, and Martin, Lucas assumed leadership of the Overlook and began shaping it into a community dedicated to helping survivors from all walks of life.
Demeanor
Lucas was widely regarded as steadfast, reasonable, and trustworthy. He preferred diplomacy over violence and consistently sought peaceful solutions, even when dealing with hostile factions. Though willing to defend those under his care, Lucas rarely viewed people as irredeemable. He believed heavily in second chances and frequently attempted to understand the motivations of both allies and enemies. This outlook often placed him at odds with more militant survivors who believed that compromise was a sign of weakness.
Years of conflict gradually wore on him emotionally. The loss of close friends, betrayals, and constant pressure from hostile groups left him increasingly burdened. Despite these hardships, Lucas never abandoned his belief that communities could survive through cooperation rather than domination.
Actions
Arrival at The Overlook
When Lucas first arrived at the Overlook, he found a shadow of the community it had once been. The settlement was nearly abandoned and struggling to survive. Only a few providers remained, such as Nigel.
Not long after Lucas arrived, news reached the Overlook that Dave had taken his own life near the Woodsmen Embassy. The loss deeply affected both Nigel and Lucas. Dave had been the person responsible for bringing Lucas back into society, and his death left a leadership vacuum within the organization.
Recognizing Lucas’s experience and character, Nigel encouraged him to take membership within the Overlook and rebuild it through cooperation. Together with Nigel, Tristan, Tom, and Martin, Lucas accepted the responsibility.
Unlike many leaders who sought military power, Lucas envisioned the Overlook as a true community camp. His goal was simple: create a place where anyone could find assistance regardless of their faction, reputation, or history. Throughout the closing months of 2024, Lucas recruited new Providers, improved camp infrastructure, expanded outreach efforts, and gradually transformed the Overlook into one of the most active neutral settlements in South Zagoria.
Pressure from Dark As Midnight
One of the most persistent threats towards the Overlook came from Dark As Midnight. Members of the group frequently visited the Overlook, disrupting activities and creating an atmosphere of constant tension. While outright warfare rarely occurred, the repeated harassment made it increasingly difficult for Providers to focus on helping travelers and maintaining the settlement.
Lucas found himself in a difficult position. He wanted to preserve the camp’s neutral status while simultaneously protecting those under his care. Determined to find a solution, Lucas reached out to the Blackthorn Gang and negotiated an agreement. The Overlook would provide supplies and logistical support, while BTG would apply pressure against Dark As Midnight and reduce their influence around Staroye. The arrangement was controversial but initially successful. With the agreement of a deterrent in place, the Overlook continued to expand its operations and serve the public.
Impossible Peace
One of Lucas’s main endeavors during this period was his attempt to create civil relations between groups that traditionally viewed one another as enemies. At various points, members of the Fireflies and the Blackthorn Gang were both present within the Overlook under Lucas’s supervision. Through persistence and diplomacy, Lucas managed to maintain non-hostility between the two organizations for a brief period. Many viewed the effort as impossible. While the arrangement ultimately collapsed when members of both factions engaged in violence while Providers were absent, the attempt reflected Lucas’s enduring belief that even bitter enemies could coexist if given the opportunity.

The Forsaken Loyalists
The Forsaken Loyalists presented a challenge unlike any Lucas had faced before. They had approached the Staroye Neutral Zone expecting continuation of protection payments established under previous Overlook leadership. Although he reluctantly paid during their initial visit in order to protect the camp, Lucas privately resolved that the Overlook would never become dependent upon the Loyalists.
The situation deteriorated rapidly after Lucas discussed the group’s activities publicly. In response, members of the Forsaken Loyalists entered the Overlook and attacked Providers, leaving the settlement bloodied and traumatized. The Overlook then chose to respond using radio broadcasts, personal diplomacy, and an extensive intelligence network, attempting to expose Loyalist activities throughout Chernarus. Providers traveled across the country spreading information about the group’s actions and encouraging communities to stand against them. For a brief time, the movement gained momentum. Allied groups refused to trade with the Loyalists, some settlements denied them support, and numerous individuals began actively engaging them in combat. What had begun as a local dispute eventually became an organized resistance effort directed against the Forsaken Loyalists.
The Woodsmen Controversy
As the Alliance expanded, Lucas received information suggesting that members of the Woodsmen had leaked information regarding the Overlook’s dealings with the Forsaken Loyalists.
The revelation placed him in an increasingly difficult political position. The Fireflies demanded action, especially after the Woodsmen had defiled one of their member’s graves, while Lucas remained reluctant to condemn the entire group. Pressure mounted from all sides, and the Overlook found itself caught in the middle of a conflict that threatened to consume the South. Rejecting calls for escalation, Lucas publicly declared that the Overlook would not participate in efforts to remove the Woodsmen from the region. Instead, he chose neutrality and redirected the organization’s attention toward humanitarian efforts. The decision damaged relations with several allies, particularly the Fireflies, but Lucas believed it was necessary to preserve the Overlook’s integrity.
The Departure of Uno
Among the most painful moments of Lucas’s leadership was the departure of Uno.
Uno had become one of the most dedicated Providers within the Overlook and frequently voiced opinions regarding the camp’s direction. As political tensions increased, she grew frustrated with what she perceived as inaction and indecision among leadership. Overwhelmed by ongoing conflicts and mounting responsibilities, Lucas failed to fully appreciate the depth of her concerns. When Uno left the Overlook to join the Woodsmen without warning, Lucas was devastated. Although he understood her reasons, her departure reinforced growing feelings of failure and self-doubt. Those closest to Lucas later observed that he never fully recovered emotionally from losing Uno.
The Mogi Massacre
The Mogilevka Massacre marked a turning point in Lucas’s relationship with the Blackthorn Gang.
Prior to the event, Lucas had maintained a complicated but functional relationship with BTG. Despite their differences, both groups had cooperated against common threats and occasionally found areas of mutual interest. Learning that BTG had cooperated with the Cult of Papa shattered Lucas’s trust. The scale of the violence horrified him and fundamentally altered his perception of the group. Relations between the Overlook and BTG became increasingly hostile in the months that followed. Violence spread throughout the Staroye Neutral Zone, forcing Providers to arm themselves more heavily than ever before.

The Abraham Affair
Following the death of Father Abraham, Lucas became embroiled in one of the strangest controversies of his career. When Abe’s body disappeared from its resting place, multiple groups became involved in the investigation. Lucas dedicated significant resources toward locating the remains and eventually succeeded in recovering them.
Despite his efforts, the situation only worsened. BTG accused him of deception, threatened Providers, and nearly killed several members of the Overlook. Lucas grew increasingly frustrated by the endless cycle of accusations, retaliation, and violence. What had started as an attempt to honor the dead became another source of political conflict that further destabilized the region.
Giovanni
One of the most personal and controversial moments of Lucas’s life involved a member of the Blackthorn Gang named Giovanni. After months of tension between Giovanni and the Overlook, the BTG member eventually approached Lucas seeking relief from his sins and asking for death.
Lucas fulfilled the request, though the event weighed heavily on him. While he believed he had granted Giovanni the peace he sought, the act represented another step away from the hopeful community leader he had once envisioned himself becoming.
The End of Lucas Cornfell
By early 2026, Lucas was exhausted. Years of conflict, betrayals, political pressure, and personal loss had gradually eroded the optimism that once defined him. The departure of Uno, the collapse of relations with BTG, the conflicts of the Forsaken Loyalists, and constant threats against the Overlook left him increasingly isolated.
After years of conflict, Lucas eventually approached the Forsaken Loyalists in an attempt to repair relations between the Overlook and the organization. The Resistance campaign had damaged any trust that existed between the two groups, and Lucas understood that continued hostility placed both himself and his Providers at risk.
The discussions were difficult but largely civil. Lucas hoped that by speaking directly with Loyalist leadership he might finally bring an end to a conflict that had consumed years of his life. Unknown to him, the Forsaken Loyalists were simultaneously involved in negotiations with the Blackthorn Gang, whose leadership still sought accountability for events surrounding the death of Boone and their ongoing disputes with the Overlook.
Relations between the Forsaken Loyalists and the Blackthorn Gang had deteriorated in the months following Boone's death. Seeking to protect one of their own members, Hugs, from retaliation due to her involvement in the incident, the Loyalists negotiated an arrangement with BTG.
As part of that arrangement, Lucas was handed over to the Blackthorn Gang in exchange for Hugs being left unharmed. Lucas was shocked when he realized what had occurred. Having come to the meeting of his own free will in hopes of improving relations, he suddenly found himself standing before one of the groups with whom he had the most complicated and hostile history.
Forced to dig his own grave while members of the Blackthorn Gang and Forsaken Loyalists looked on, Lucas understood there would be no escape.
His final words were:
Tell Uno I love her. Growth is hope, growth is hope.
Notable Relationships
Providers

Nigel
Nigel was Lucas's closest companion during the rebuilding of the Overlook. From the earliest days of Lucas's leadership, Nigel remained at his side and served as both a trusted friend and protector. During diplomatic meetings and negotiations with other factions, Nigel frequently accompanied Lucas as his security. While Lucas preferred discussion and compromise, Nigel ensured that Lucas could safely navigate the dangers surrounding the Overlook. The two endured countless conflicts together, from the rebuilding of the Overlook to the Resistance against the Forsaken Loyalists. Their shared experiences created one of the strongest friendships within the Provider organization.
Martin
Lucas viewed Martin as a mentor figure during his time leading the Overlook. Martin helped Lucas understand the history and structure of the Overlook, particularly the ideals established by one of its former leaders, The Samaritan. Lucas admired the foundation that had been created before his leadership and relied on Martin's knowledge to better understand how to preserve those values. Martin frequently encouraged Lucas to make decisions that benefited not only himself but all Providers within the Overlook. His guidance played an important role in shaping Lucas's approach to leadership.
Nomad
Nomad was one of the first Providers recruited by Lucas after he began rebuilding the Overlook. At the time, the organization consisted primarily of Lucas and Nigel, making Nomad one of the earliest people to believe in Lucas's vision. Nomad respected Lucas for the determination he showed while restoring the Overlook from near abandonment. As the organization expanded, Nomad became an important intelligence asset and informant for the Providers. During the Resistance against the Forsaken Loyalists, Nomad played a significant role in gathering information and supporting the movement against them.
Nomad is currently considered missing in action.
The Peruvian
Peru was considered one of Lucas's most dependable Providers. Known for his willingness to take on dangerous tasks, Peru frequently risked his life to gather supplies and resources necessary for the Overlook's survival. He completed missions that many others were unwilling to attempt, making him an invaluable asset to Lucas and the organization. Lucas relied heavily on Peru for obtaining rare supplies and trade materials. Peru's loyalty never wavered, and he supported Lucas's decisions even during the most difficult periods of the Overlook's history.
Hatchet
Lucas viewed Hatchet as a son-like figure within the Overlook. Quiet and reserved, Hatchet rarely spoke unless necessary, but Lucas recognized his dedication and potential. Lucas frequently took responsibility for ensuring Hatchet was able to manage his duties and responsibilities within the organization. On multiple occasions where Hatchet's life was threatened, Lucas placed himself between danger and Hatchet, willing to risk his own safety to protect him.
Uno
Uno held a unique and deeply personal place in Lucas's life. Within the Overlook, Lucas considered Uno one of his most valuable Providers. While others contributed through security or logistics, Uno's strength came through compassion and her ability to connect with people. Lucas often referred to her as his "secret weapon," believing that kindness could accomplish what violence never could. Uno served as Lucas's eyes and ears within the Overlook, providing insight into the feelings and concerns of other Providers. When Uno eventually left the Overlook to join the Woodsmen, Lucas was devastated. Although their relationship faded over time, Lucas continued to care deeply for her and checked on her whenever possible.
Rango
Rango was one of Lucas's closest Providers and one of the Overlook's strongest defenders. Lucas viewed Rango as his "knight" and relied heavily on him for security within the Overlook and the Staroye Neutral Zone. Rango served as a frontline defender and was often responsible for protecting the community during dangerous encounters. The two shared a close relationship, with each pushing the other to improve. Rango's confidence and willingness to stand against enemies strengthened Lucas's leadership. Eventually, Rango left the Overlook and joined the Fireflies. While Lucas respected his decision, the departure deeply affected him.
Tristan
Tristan was one of the few Providers who remained with the Overlook during Lucas's transition into leadership. Initially skeptical of Lucas's ideals and leadership style, Tristan gradually developed respect for what Lucas was attempting to accomplish. Over time, Tristan came to recognize Lucas's dedication to protecting the Overlook and its people. Lucas respected Tristan for his courage and willingness to stand against threats facing the community.
Allied Relationships
Ed
Ed of the Fireflies maintained a complicated but respectful relationship with Lucas. Unlike many members of the Fireflies, Ed recognized Lucas's intentions and understood his desire to provide hope and second chances to survivors. While Ed did not always agree with Lucas's willingness to forgive certain individuals, he respected the reasoning behind his choices. The two maintained a strong friendship for much of Lucas's leadership. However, relations became strained following the Woodsmen Portfolio incident, and their connection gradually faded.
Mufasa

Mufasa, leader of The Helping Hand, developed a close friendship with Lucas during the period when both organizations were growing. The Overlook and The Helping Hand frequently supported each other, sharing resources, information, and assistance when needed. Lucas trusted Mufasa deeply and viewed him as someone who shared similar values regarding helping survivors. Their friendship remained strong even during periods of intense conflict. Both leaders respected each other's dedication to protecting their communities.
Tina
Lucas developed a friendship with Tina through his relationship with Mufasa and The Helping Hand. Before Tina joined the Blackthorn Gang, Lucas respected her and considered her a valuable member of the survivor community. However, after the execution of Boone by the Forsaken Loyalists and Tina's subsequent decision to join BTG, Lucas struggled to understand her choices. Despite her changing allegiances, Lucas never fully abandoned hope that Tina could return to the person she once was. Even when they became opponents, Lucas continued to respect her and believed there was still good within her.
Antagonists
Boone
Boone and Lucas shared one of the most complicated relationships in the Overlook's history. During the early days of Lucas's leadership, the Blackthorn Gang assisted the Overlook in pushing back Dark As Midnight. Boone, who led BTG during this period, developed a level of respect for Lucas and his dedication to the community. Lucas believed Boone was capable of becoming something greater than the reputation surrounding him. He repeatedly attempted to encourage Boone toward better choices and hoped he could influence BTG's direction. However, Boone ultimately chose a different path. Following the Mogi Massacre and the revelation of BTG's involvement with the Cult of Papa, Lucas lost much of his faith in him. The two eventually became civil enemies: individuals who respected one another's abilities but stood on opposing sides.
Giovanni
Before joining the Blackthorn Gang, Giovanni and Lucas were friends. After joining BTG, however, Giovanni became increasingly unpredictable and violent. Lucas continued attempting to appeal to Giovanni's former morals, believing that he could still change. Eventually, Giovanni became responsible for attacks against Providers and inflicted significant harm upon Lucas and the Overlook. After years of conflict, Lucas reached a point where he wanted Giovanni dead. However, Giovanni later approached Lucas seeking escape from the actions he had committed and asking Lucas to end his life. Lucas granted his request. Although he believed he had given Giovanni the peace he sought, the decision haunted Lucas for the remainder of his life. It represented one of the darkest moments of his leadership and a painful reminder of how far the conflicts of Chernarus had pushed him.
Where are they now?

Lucas Cornfell was executed by the Blackthorn Gang on April 30, 2026, after being handed over by the Forsaken Loyalists. Many Overlook members still believe him to be missing.
Though often criticized for his neutrality and willingness to forgive, many remember Lucas as a man who never stopped believing that people could be better than they were. His legacy continues through the Overlook, the Staroye Neutral Zone, and the countless survivors who benefited from his efforts.
