Overview

Affiliations: Morgan Freeman Spiritual Group, Black Paw

Status: Deceased

Sometimes known as the Grey Wolf, John Stalvern was a beta of the Black Paw, and friend to as many as he was foe throughout South Zagoria. His life would touch many of those that survived the war and outbreak, and the ramifications of his eventual death would go on to touch many more.

Appearance

Origins

John began his extended Chernarussian stay by washing up upon its unforgiving shores after his ship, The Antelope, capsized somewhere off the coast. Fate had left John to fend for himself in the ever-dying world, but he resolved to make the best of a terrible situation.

Demeanor

If anyone could make it in this world, it was John. He was an outgoing and social person who always had time for other people.

Actions

John wasn’t alone for long, and eventually he found himself among new friends in the Morgan Freeman Spiritual Group. The relative peacefulness lasted a while, a time spent in a hazy fog on Altar radio station until the day fate turned and they insulted the leader of the feared cannibal group Gilligan Gang. A war broke out, and John eventually defected from MFSG to the Black Paw. In doing so, he betrayed the trust of several groups he had previously been in alliance with, but there was no going back.

The Black Paw lifestyle of robbing, killing and staying close only to the pack was hard on John, but he didn’t give up his social personality. If there was a need for talks or negotiation he would always volunteer to speak for the pack, and he was often viewed as the diplomat of the Black Paw. He wasn’t weak, but nor was he unreasonable, and his ability to tie personal bonds with other people is what made him renowned and respected around the Chernarussian wastelands.

Living an isolationist life makes one depend more on their friends, and John was rarely seen without his close companion, Walter Greene; who he had known since MFSG’s alliance with Shield. They shared one vice: drugs. Often they could be found smoking and fishing in a pond outside a house in the western woods, as if by ignoring the apocalypse around them they could force fate to change the reality of war and insecurity they lived in.

Fate had also taken another twisted leap when it brought Andi Walker back into John’s life. The Firekeeper, who technically was his enemy, instead became his lover and partner. Their lives could have continued their balanced walk on this knife’s edge, hadn’t John’s other love gradually taken over more of his attention.

Notable Relationships

Where are they now?

Ultimately, rather than letting John perish via his addiction, Andi Walker chose to end his life. John’s fate shook the core of Chernarus, and threatened to upend the brittle peace between groups and people. Just like he through his charisma and personality in life touched everyone he met, his sudden and premature death affected many people.
