Overview

"Fuck you."

Group/Faction Affiliation: Golden Jackals

Status: Alive, left the country

Appearance

One of the first things you’d notice about Sayid’s face was that you didn’t see his face. He always wore sunglasses, a facemask and a bandana to cover up the scars of a deal gone wrong a long time ago. The second thing you’d observe was the large backpack filled with trade goods of both conventional and unconventional varieties.

Origins

Originally from Amman in Jordan, devout Muslim Sayid al-Jazari ended up in South Zagoria in search of good business. His life before the infection is documented through letters and correspondence with his family back home and portrays a merchant with an uncanny sense for good business deals. A respected dealmaker to some, and a ruthless mafia boss to others; Sayid did what he had to, dealt with who he needed to deal with and treated everyone according to his own standards. His lifestyle taught him to sleep with one eye open, but also to never miss an opportunity when it arose.

Demeanor

If Sayid thought you were full of shit, he’d tell you. This straight-forward, no-nonsense attitude was unpopular with some, and welcomed by many. Regardless of your thoughts about his behaviour, he was the epitome of an apocalyptic entrepreneur who traded in anything and everything, from cars and car parts to weapons and black market goods.

His firm, unshakable presence made him an indisputable judge on the Golden Jackals' regularly occurring fight nights all over South Zagoria.

Actions

While Sayid never planned to stay in Chernarus, he like most other people found himself unable to return home after the infection spread. Instead he adapted to life in the apocalypse and founded the Golden Jackals. Originally a group of mechanics who would repair anything with wheels for anyone who paid enough for their service, they ventured on to the broader market Sayid had spent his entire life in. The traders sought to make money by making the most of what trade was still to be found. Even though he always wore a bandana to cover up his face, Sayid was recognized by most people and a familiar sight in South Zagoria as he travelled the roads making deals with whomever were interested in his business. He would let anyone know exactly what was on his mind, never sugar-coating price nor opinion.

Sayid and Golden Jackals made their lasting mark on South Zagoria by arranging the Fists of Gold Tournament, popularly known as Fight night; a boxing competition made to single out the best fighter in the region. The competition would bring people from the furthest corners of the land to seek glory as well as exchange information and trade.

Notable Relationships

Sayid was known to put entrepreneurship and trade before friendship beyond his own group. Wherever there was good business to be had, he was there putting his personal feelings aside. His two closest friends were both fellow Golden Jackals:

Alexei

A man of few words, the native Chernarussian Golden Jackal Alexei always had Sayid’s back.

Jack Kowalski

Organizing partner of Fists of Gold, and Polish car mechanic with equal interest in making deals.

Where are they now?

Ultimately some of Sayid's more dubious past dealings caught up with him. The need to lay low, along with a strong desire to go back home eventually made him decide to uproot himself and the Golden Jackals and venture north west before going back to his native Jordan. As he explained;

“There’s nothing to look forward to other than living another day among thieves, cannibals and murderers. If that’s the case, I want to do it in a place I know and love.”
